FAQ
Do you repair violins, violas and cellos?
Yes. LVL Music Academy provides repair and setup support for violins, violas and cellos, including bow rehairing, bridge work, soundpost adjustment, open seams, cracks, pegs, strings and general maintenance.
Do I need to book an appointment for repair?
We recommend contacting us by WhatsApp before coming down, especially if the repair is urgent or requires luthier inspection. You may also send photos or videos first so we can understand the issue better.
Can you tell the repair cost from photos?
Sometimes we can give a rough indication from photos, but many repairs need physical inspection. Issues such as soundpost position, bridge fitting, open seams, buzzing and structural problems are difficult to judge accurately from photos alone.
How long does violin repair take?
It depends on the repair. Some simple checks or adjustments may be faster, while bow rehairing, bridge fitting, seam work, crack repair or full setup may require more time. We will advise after inspecting the instrument.
Do you provide bow rehairing in Singapore?
Yes. We provide bow rehairing for violin, viola and cello bows. If your bow no longer grips the string properly, has lost too much hair, or feels uneven, it may need to be rehaired.
My violin bridge is leaning. Should I fix it immediately?
Yes. A leaning bridge should be corrected early. If ignored, it may warp, crack or collapse, which can lead to more expensive repair work.
My violin sounds dull. Is it a repair issue or string issue?
It could be either. A dull sound may come from old strings, poor setup, bridge issues, soundpost position, open seams or the instrument itself. We inspect the instrument before recommending repair or string replacement.
Is my old violin worth repairing?
That depends on the instrument’s quality, condition, repair cost and your intended use. We can inspect it and advise honestly whether repair, setup, resale, rental or upgrade makes more sense.

LVL Music Academy is located in Bukit Timah, near Beauty World MRT. Our workshop supports violin, viola and cello players across Singapore.
