On 17 March 2023, LVL Music Academy students took part in a performance at Pororo Park at Marina Square, bringing live student music into a lively family-oriented setting in the heart of Singapore.
The event began at 2:45pm and was one of several performance opportunities organised for LVL students during 2023.
Taking Music Beyond the Lesson Room
Learning an instrument involves much more than what happens during a weekly lesson.
For students, preparing to perform in front of an audience introduces a completely different experience. It creates a clear goal to work towards and gives students the opportunity to put their preparation into practice outside the familiar surroundings of the classroom.
Events such as the Pororo Park performance also allowed LVL students to experience performing in a less traditional environment.
Rather than a formal concert hall or recital venue, Pororo Park offered a colourful, family-focused setting where music could become part of the wider activity taking place around the students.
Performing at Pororo Park, Marina Square
Pororo Park Singapore is an indoor family attraction located at Marina Square and themed around the Korean animated character Pororo.
For the LVL students taking part in the 2023 event, performing in this type of public setting provided another opportunity to become comfortable sharing music with an audience.
Every performance environment presents something different. A recital hall can feel formal and focused, while a public family venue can be more energetic and unpredictable.
Learning to remain focused and continue performing confidently in different surroundings is itself a valuable part of developing as a young musician.
Building Confidence Through Performance
At LVL, performance opportunities complement regular music lessons by giving students occasions to work towards something beyond technical exercises and weekly repertoire.
Preparing a piece for an audience encourages students to think about continuity, concentration and musical communication rather than simply whether they can play an individual passage correctly.
The Pororo Park event on 17 March 2023 represents one of those moments in LVL’s event history — bringing students, families and music together outside the classroom in a fun and accessible setting.
