Our Story
LVL Music Academy began with a simple vision: to make quality music education accessible while surrounding students with the best instruments and craftsmanship. Founded by Janice (Principal & Educator) and Alan (Co-Founder, Luthier & Digital Marketer), LVL combines decades of teaching expertise with violin and cello repair and restoration under one roof.
From one student to a thriving academy, our journey reflects our belief that music changes lives—building discipline, joy, and creativity.

Principal / Co-founder
Ms Janice, the esteemed Principal and Co-Founder of LVL Music Academy, stands as a beacon of musical excellence and mentorship. With over two decades of experience in the music industry, she has dedicated her life to nurturing the next generation of musicians.
Her journey with the violin began at the age of six, eventually leading her to become a cherished member of the Singapore National Youth Orchestra, where she represented Singapore in prestigious festivals, including in Aberdeen, Scotland. These formative years instilled in her not just technical mastery, but also a deep passion for performance and artistry.
Professionally, Janice has performed with The Philharmonic Orchestra and taught at some of Singapore’s most respected schools, including MGS, PLMGS, CHIJ, and more. These experiences honed her pedagogical approach—one that combines discipline with encouragement, and technique with artistry.
At LVL Music Academy, Janice leads the development and implementation of LVL’s customised curriculum, ensuring that every teacher is fully trained and supported to deliver lessons with consistency, excellence, and creativity. She mentors the teaching team closely, raising standards and fostering a culture of continuous growth, so that every student benefits from the same high-quality learning experience.
For over twenty years, Janice has transformed the lives of countless students—both children and adults—by cultivating not only skilled musicians, but also passionate, confident individuals. With her at the helm, students are guided by a true mentor whose unwavering dedication continues to spark creativity, kindle a lifelong love for music, and shape unforgettable musical journeys.

Meet Alan, Co-Founder of LVL Music Academy—a violin luthier, web developer, digital marketer, and mechanical engineer by training. His unique blend of technical precision and artistic sensitivity makes him an integral force behind LVL’s growth and vision.
As a violin maker and restorer, Alan approaches every instrument as a work of art. Whether repairing a century-old cello or fine-tuning a modern violin, he devotes meticulous attention to detail, ensuring each instrument not only looks beautiful but resonates at its best. His background in engineering strengthens his craftsmanship, allowing him to innovate and create practical yet elegant solutions for complex restoration challenges.
Beyond the workshop, Alan channels his expertise into building LVL’s digital presence and brand strategy, crafting marketing initiatives that connect the academy’s values with a wider community of learners and musicians. His dual passion for craft and technology bridges tradition with modern learning.
On a personal note, Alan is a devoted father of two, whose children remind him daily of the importance of creativity, curiosity, and nurturing talent from a young age.
