Our Story
LVL Music began with a simple idea: bring good teaching, trusted instrument guidance and professional craftsmanship together in one place.
Founded by Janice and Alan, LVL has grown from a music school into an integrated music hub for lessons, instruments, rentals and luthier services.
Today, students and musicians can learn, choose an instrument, maintain it properly and access performance opportunities with support from the same team. What has stayed the same is the focus on practical guidance, long-term musical development and helping each person progress with confidence.

Janice (co-founder)
Principal
A Life in Music
Her violin journey began at the age of six, eventually leading her to the Singapore National Youth Orchestra, where she represented Singapore in international festivals, including Aberdeen, Scotland.
Teaching & Performance Experience
Janice has performed with The Philharmonic Orchestra and taught at schools including MGS, PLMGS and CHIJ. Her teaching approach combines discipline, encouragement, technique and musical development.
Leading Education at LVL
At LVL, Janice leads the development and implementation of the customised curriculum and works closely with the teaching team to maintain consistency and teaching standards.
More Than Two Decades of Teaching
With over twenty years of experience, she has taught children and adults across different stages of their musical development, with a focus on confidence, musicianship and long-term enjoyment of music.

Alan (co-founder)
Luthier & Marketing Director
Engineering Meets Craftsmanship
Alan is a violin luthier, web developer, digital marketer and mechanical engineer by training, combining technical precision with an understanding of instruments and craftsmanship.
Violin Making & Restoration
As a violin maker and restorer, he works on violin-family instruments ranging from modern setups and adjustments to older restoration projects, with attention to playability, structure and tonal response.
Building LVL Music
Beyond the workshop, Alan leads LVL’s digital presence and brand strategy, connecting the academy, instrument shop and workshop with musicians and families in Singapore.
Craft, Technology & Music
His engineering background informs his approach to instrument work, while his experience in digital marketing has helped shape LVL into an integrated music business rather than only a teaching academy.
